There are approximately 20,534 children aged 0 to 5 who live in the Coachella Valley, which is about 4.8% of the general population.

The Healthy Families Clinic, a program of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation, provides comprehensive primary care services for children from birth through age five, including an initial evaluation and on-going monitoring of physical, emotional and intellectual development. The Clinic also provides general pediatric care for children of all ages.

Access to pediatric care is critical at the time during which a child’s brain develops more than at any other time in life. And early brain development has a lasting impact on a child’s ability to learn and succeed in school and life.

Services are provided at no cost to families throughout the Coachella Valley. They include:

  • Pediatric Care
  • Child Assessments
  • Reach Out and Read Language and Literacy Program

The Clinic monitors growth and development and identifies issues before they become lifelong problems, helping with developmental delays, congenital conditions, and other health issues.

Professional outreach and education staff provide supportive services to parents, children and families with home visits that stress empowerment of families, build on their strengths and abilities and support families as they manage life’s challenges.
