Empowering Future Leaders: Ophelia Program Honors Graduates of 2025

The energy was electric at The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa as nearly 500 guests—Ophelia juniors and seniors, educators from every school district across Coachella Valley, and proud supporters—came together to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the Ophelia Graduates of 2025.

In a heartwarming ceremony on March 18th, with this year’s theme as “It’s a Girls’ World,” 42 remarkable young women were awarded over $170,000 in scholarships, a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the incredible community support behind them.

The event’s Presenting Sponsor, the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians, stood proudly alongside other dedicated supporters who make the Ophelia Program’s mission possible:

Individuals: Connie & Bob Lurie, Edeltraud McCarthy, Jan Salta, Lance Eldred & Dr. Rita Stec, and Suz Hunt

Companies/Organizations: CV Firebirds, Desert Care Network, Desert Healthcare District, Eisenhower Health Foundation, Jessup Auto Plaza, Sunline Transit Agency, U.S. Bank, and Walter Clark Legal Group

The Ophelia Program, led by a passionate team of volunteer women mentors, has been a beacon of hope for thousands of girls in the Coachella Valley. With its presence in 20 schools across the region, the program inspires young women to graduate high school and pursue higher education, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive.

“We may be a small organization, but our heart and mission are boundless,” said Peter Sturgeon, CEO of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation. “This annual luncheon isn’t just a celebration—it’s proof of what’s possible when education and opportunity intersect with unwavering support.”
